Pharrell Williams is teaming with Comme des Garçons to launch a scent for men and women. Called Girl — echoing the title of Williams’ new album — it marks the first time fashion maverick Rei Kawakubo has teamed with a musician to create a fragrance.

Adrian Joffe, chief executive officer of Comme des Garçons Parfums SA, said Williams “knew exactly what he wanted the perfume to smell like right from the beginning. It has been an honor to work with such a creative artist with a great vision.”

Williams has unfurled a number of designer collaborations in recent years. He’s done eyewear and down jackets for Moncler, fine jewelry and sunglasses for Louis Vuitton and most recently unveiled a denim collaboration between G-Star Raw and Bionic Yarn, where Williams is creative director.

Details of the new fragrance project are to be unveiled later this spring and will hit stores September 2014.
