Conceived by Artistic Director, Donatella Versace and shot by legendary collaborator Steven Meisel, the Versace Spring 2018 ad campaign includes studio portraits of models from different eras including Gisele Bundchen, Naomi Campbell and Kaia Gerber. Also lensed for the advertisements are Christy Turlington, Natalia Vodianova, Raquel Zimmermann, Irina Shayk, Gigi Hadid, Vittoria Ceretti, Cara Taylor, Birgit Kos and Grace Elizabeth. The spring season celebrates prints from Versace’s archives as well as gold accents.
One of the biggest highlights from Milan Fashion Week this season was Donatella Versace reuniting legendary ’90s supermodels in honor of her late brother Gianni Versace and the 20th anniversary of his death. The Versace Spring/Summer 2018 show featured Gianni’s favorite models, including Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Carla Bruni, Helena Christensen, and Cindy Crawford, strutting down the runway in an ode to the late designer.
The Spring 2018 collection pays homage to Gianni, who founded the Italian house and helmed the brand for two decades until his death in 1997. Campbell donned a metallic gold dress for the campaign, while pop art, animal motifs and Gianni’s iconic “Medusa” pattern found their way into silk scarves, jackets, and shirts. “Naomi had to be by my side for this very special campaign celebrating Gianni….She is family to me,” Versace said. “It has been amazing shooting this campaign surrounded by all of my friends and some of Gianni’s to whom this collection is a tribute. I felt so many different emotions at the same time, but they were all very positive.”
