Coach, the original American house of leather, and Rodarte, the conceptual American luxury label, debut a new, limited-edition capsule collection featuring 15 pieces encapsulating the aesthetic of both Coach’s Creative Director Stuart Vevers and Rodarte’s Laura Mulleavy with fun embellishments, icon styles, and colorful details.

The collaboration, designed by Coach’s Creative Director, Stuart Vevers, and Rodarte’s Kate and Laura Mulleavy, explores the idea of mixing textures and the vocabularies of New York and Los Angeles; modern vs. ethereal; Coach’s interest in utility and unprecious luxury vs. Rodarte’s unabashed romance and fanciful demi-couture.

The collection of ready-to-wear and bags, crafted in Coach’s original glovetanned leather, feature 1970s Coach advertisements that use the slogan ‘This is A Coach Bag’—a design element that inspired the Mulleavys. The assortment also includes intricately embellished styles with Rodarte’s signature use of special appliqué techniques, through a Coach filter. The pieces perfectly marry Rodarte’s conceptual, embellishment-heavy sensibility with Coach’s utilitarian aesthetic.

A unique combination of both brands’ take on design, the collaboration celebrates the qualities that make each one different and what makes them come together: both houses’ commitment to craftsmanship.

Kate and Laura Mulleavy commented, “We love how Coach believes in American luxury and craftsmanship. We also love their incredible archive and the imaging of the brand over the years.” Vevers added, “Rodarte’s conceptual approach to American style was the perfect lens to reimagine nostalgic Coach pieces. The mash-up of influences resulted in a romantic cool collection that feels right for both houses.”
