London’s Burlington Arcade, a covered parade of shops that runs between Piccadilly and Bond Street, will soon play host to a new Chanel accessories store along with stores for a string of Chanel-owned labels. The luxury group will open five spaces in the arcade — one 807-square-foot unit will house a Chanel accessories boutique and will in fact play home to its fragrance and beauty collections, while four other shops will house the swim and lingerie label Eres, watchmakers Bell & Ross, milliner Maison Michel and the knit label Barrie, which are all owned by Chanel. The new boutiques will stand nearby to existing stores in the arcade including Ladurée, Vilebrequin, Harrys of London, Lulu Guinness and Church’s.
Melissa Gliatta, executive vice president at Thor Equities, said she believes the new labels are “a wonderful addition to the arcade. No matter who you are…when you walk through the arcade there’s something for you, and I think that’s important to us to make sure we have a nice mix,” she said. “Our goal is to provide the highest quality tenants.”
The Chanel-owned labels will be going into spaces formerly occupied by brands including Globetrotter, Thomas Lyte and Berk Cashmere. The new boutiques are expected to open before the holiday period.
