For the Christian Dior Fall 2025 ad campaign, the House draw inspiration from the timeless figure of Orlando, the leading character of Virginia Woolf’s eponymous initiatory novel.
The protagonist’s free, shifting identity is embodied by the models passing through symbolic portals between past and future, reality and imagination. With an interplay of various perspectives and optical illusions, the images express the power of style to, like literature, reveal the plurality of the self and to constantly redefine forms of being.
In a dreamlike decor – located in the majestic setting of Hatfield House in England – the looks are firmly rooted in the present, fulfilling their functional role and responding to current desires. Crinoline dresses are shortened to better accompany movement, while bustiers and corsets are enhanced with zips and systems that allow volumes to be shaped, promising lightness and ease. Daringly bold, the jacket – in all its variations – and ultra-structured coats are dressed in delicately crafted velvet, embroidered horsehair, technical fabrics, and denim, poetically unveiling at traces of different eras.
Drawing on the Dior archives, white shirts – a signature of Gianfranco Ferré – are sublimated with imposing ruffles to complete the outfits, while the iconic J’adore Dior T-shirt conceived by John Galliano is reinvented with precious ornaments.
