Originally shown in Paris at the Cour Carrée at the Louvre and celebrating the 10-year anniversary of Nicolas Ghesquière’s tenure as Artistic Director of Women’s Collections, the Louis Vuitton Fall RTW collection was reborn at Toronto’s famed Roy Thompson Hall, the home to the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.
The resulting looks emerge at the crossroads of seasonality and fashion history, perfectly suited to the moment while simultaneously paying homage to 10 years of trailblazing design from this generational talent.
An ode to a decade of audacious creations, the trailblazing collection by Nicolas Ghesquière presented a nuanced aesthetic through a combination of graphic motifs, lustrous embroidery, and avant-garde accessories and handbags — inspired by the Maison’s emblems. Evoking a sense of nostalgia through his signature style codes, Nicolas Ghesquière weaved a new story with his latest collection, affirming the bold allure of the contemporary feminine silhouette.
Louis Vuitton opened its first dedicated location in Canada in 1983 on Toronto’s iconic Bloor Street. More than 40 years later, Bloor Street remains the Maison’s largest store in the country, which now boasts 10 locations coast-to-coast with the opening of a new location in Montreal at Royalmount later this month.
In October, Louis Vuitton will release the first City Guide Toronto, available in print and via the City Guide app, further underscoring the importance of the city to the Maison and compliment the opening of the store at the Fairmont Hotel in Vancouver.
