The Chanel Pre-Fall 2024 collection is inspired by the allure of actress Camila Morrone where the silhouettes of the collection draw the portrait of a magnetic figure.
“Being a part of the Chanel family has always been a dream and aspiration of mine,” Morrone said. “Over the years of working so closely with them for shows and red carpets, we naturally developed a beautiful dialogue and understanding of what version my ‘Chanel essence’ is.”
Morrone models glamorous and ultra-feminine pieces, such as a long black velvet dress, leather outfits, and silk chiffon tops and skirts with subtle cut-outs and transparency. Classic Chanel elements like camellias, embroidered bows, and jeweled buttons enhance the Belle Époque-inspired setting. Set against the backdrop of a Parisian restaurant, the images capture the elegance and mystery reminiscent of 1940s Hollywood actresses, a style that fascinates Morrone.
“I would watch these films in complete awe of the female protagonists, like Rita Hayworth in Gilda. There was such a seduction, class, power in the clothes they wore,” the actress said. “They looked like true movie stars, they didn’t show too much skin, and yet, they were as seductive as can be. That’s what the French woman does so well.”
The new collection also juxtaposes masculinity and femininity, a concept that appealed to Gabrielle Chanel herself. The balance of these two concepts also nods to Morrone’s appreciation for classic silhouettes with subtle femininity.
