The Balmain Fall 2024 RTW runway collection highlights Creative Director Olivier Rousteing’s clever use of golden accents to elevate his chic Parisian tailoring. This season, those accents come to life with droll references to his childhood home.
“One thing I’ll always associate with Bordeaux’s grapes, cuisine and gardens is the beautiful escargot. My team and I have found several unexpected ways to include the snail shell’s mesmerizing spirals inside this collection, including coiled stitching, a golden metal breast plate and a wide array of coquille-inspired buttons, jewels and ornaments,” said Rousteing.
The Creative Director focused on his green thumb to build Fall designs upon his unique history of incorporating the fruits from the Founder’s many gardens into his couture offerings.
From the moment Rousteing began sketching, he injected more and more of his own history into this runway with prints, embroideries and 3D representations of bunches of grapes—the symbol of the most famous product of his hometown, Bordeaux.
