FORTE_FORTE LOVES MUL OLGA SECOND COLLABORATION
“forte_forte Loves Mul Olga” is the latest journey through the beauty of a land rich with its textile culture and the art of hand embroidery.
May 24, 2023
forte_forte reunites with Mul Olga for a second capsule collection that focuses on the importance of preserving the memory of a unique and authentic tradition. Each garment has been created by local communities out of original and historic ukrainian pieces and textiles that have been incorporated together with fabrics, ribbons, tapes and details from forte_forte’s archive, using different embroidery techniques and handcrafted applications.
A unique and precious wardrobe features kimono jackets made from original vintage scarves, woven and printed between 1950 and 1980, where the floral motifs symbolize a sort of protective and auspicious talisman for the culture of this region imbued with the power to protect the person who wears them. Tops, shirts and pareo skirts are made from towels and tablecloths embroidered entirely by hand in ukraine between 1950 and 1975. Every design on these pieces is unique and the embroidery forms a special mantra to create a new universe: in this way, each person freely expresses their own worldview and personal energy.
As precious accessories – jewelry, delicate necklaces embroidered with handmade dolls called “Motanka” are regarded by tradition to be good luck charms associated with the family and its importance: authentic heirlooms that are often passed down from generation to generation. A small selection of garments in original hand–embroidered vintage fabrics from olga mul’s personal exploration in uzbekistan completes the capsule.
The capsule will be available in the forte_forte boutiques in Milan, Rome, Forte dei Marmi, Paris, Madrid, london and Los Angeles, as well as online from May 25th.
