The coastal area of Lungomare di Mergellina and the Spanish Quarters in Naples, Italy is the backdrop for the Vivienne Westwood Spring 2022 ad campaign.
Characterized by crumbling 16th Century houses, fishing boats and vibrant local personalities that embody the Mediterranean “vibe”, the campaign features recognisable faces such as Lindsay Wixson with a mix of newcomers, locals as well as the designers, Vivienne Westwood and Andreas Kronthaler. The theatrical pieces of the collection that contrast against the graffitied streets present us with a street kids mood, captured by none other than Juergen Teller.
The celebration of freedom is a natural path for the collection, which was inspired by the feeling of a “new beginning” post-lockdown. “We had freedom again! – it was the first time since the pandemic started that we could go and visit our producer & friend in Italy” states Andreas. Capturing the carefree attitude of the models in raw and unedited-like images, punk lives on in the new collection and on the streets of Naples.
