BALMAIN SPRING 2022 RTW COLLECTION

Celebrating 10 years at the helm, Olivier Rousteing goes dark and daring for Balmain's Spring collection.

October 8, 2021

Olivier Rousteing commemorates his ten-year tenure with sultry, neutral-toned cutout ensembles with notes of red and gold—redefining the brand’s glimmering opulence for the Balmain Spring 2022 RTW collection.

The show began on a daring note with pieces that encapsulated a whole new meaning to sexy: bare, bold, and brawny. Models were donned in utility-inspired pieces accessorized with chunky gold jewelry and contemporary accent pieces from futuristic sunglasses to puffer bags. In a swift turn of events, supermodel Naomi Campbell opened what seemed to be a second act to Rousteing’s Spring/Summer 2022 collection with gold-embellished dresses, co-ord sets, and jumpsuits gleaming with regality and grandiosity.

The runway show hosted Paris Fashion Week’s biggest music festival with special performances from Doja Cat and Franz Ferdinand at the Seine Musicale in Paris. The Balmain Festival V02, first created in 2019 and previously called the Balmain Music Festival, emulated major music festivals featuring food stands, drinks, and limited edition merchandise from the event.

Special runway appearances were made by Adut Akech and Carla Bruni as they walked the runway to a sentimental message by Rousteing’s long-time friend and confidante Beyoncé who praised and congratulated the designer for his unparalleled vision for the French luxury house.

Setting the tone for the Balmain Spring 2022 show, Beyoncé offered a touching vocal tribute to Olivier Rousteing in celebration of ten years as Creative Director.
