For the Roland Mouret Spring 2022 RTW collection, the designer entrusted Magaajyia Silberfeld with creative control to translate his brand ethos to her project on the big screen. In lieu of a fashion film, Magaajyia was tasked solely with creating an empowering film celebrating women and the female identity.

“In designing this collection, I asked myself what has changed for the Roland Mouret woman? The collection is rooted in an understanding of the new ways they live their lives and how they dress, as the world is re-emerging. There is a new daywear attitude, with relaxed silhouettes and transitional separates. The collection meshes with every moment of a woman’s day, to uplift any instant as an opportunity to feel good in yourself.” – Roland Mouret.

The collection expresses a nonchalance, comprising of easy-to-wear dresses, elasticated-waist trousers and effortless tops. Each piece is elevated with cleverly constructed folds, ruffled necklines and ribbon belts, bringing signature Mouret design DNA to understated staples.

An evening capsule of geo-sequin, taffeta and pleated silk lurex gowns brings this newfound ease to occasion-wear. Caped taffeta bodices and voluminous sleeves are balanced in perfect symmetry with slim fit tailored trousers and sleek gowns to accentuate the female form. Geo-sequins embolden sharply tailored dresses, jumpsuits and gowns.

The colour palette takes inspiration from the seasonality of Southern France and Greece, drawing on Mouret’s memories of long Mediterranean summers. From early-summer tones of pale mint, mauve, and pearl to high-summer with bright pops of crystal blue and yellow.
