The Amiri Fall 2021 collection was presented through a cinematic, Hollywood-standard runway film directed by Cara Stricker. Set on the 4th Street Bridge, the film’s narrative mirrored the collection’s: considering the beginnings of the Downtown L.A. era, when a wave of artists moved into the former industrial buildings, lured by the dark romance of its nightlife.

“If you’re going to make a movie, what better place to do it than Los Angeles?,” said Mike Amiri, CEO and Creative Director.

Inviting audiences inside the house’s L.A. studio, documentary footage details Mike Amiri’s artistic process as he and his team work diligently to realize their Autumn-Winter ‘21 vision. Detailing the ideas, nuances and influences behind the collection, Mike Amiri also discusses his personal relationship with Downtown L.A., where his first studio was located in 2009.

Behind-the-scenes, we see the highly ambitious production in action. Featuring model and dancer Alton Mason, and sound- tracked by The Roots, AMIRI’s cast moved in synchronized patterns as the sun rises and sets on DTLA – interweaving their own storylines within collective formations to build a unified poetic narrative informed by free-form jazz and cultural tribes.

Amiri’s Fall collection paid homage to the cultural history of Downtown L.A., where the city’s burgeoning arts and fashion districts are located, and where AMIRI began its journey. In tribute to this community – past and present – the collection paints a vivid interpretation of a new vanguard carving their own distinctive chapter today.
