MOSCHINO FALL 2021 RTW COLLECTION
Jeremy Scott's Fall collection for Moschino features a world of moving paintings, a surreal safari and a trompe l'oeil theatre.
March 3, 2021
True to its theme of the night, entitled ‘Jungle Red,’ the Moschino Fall 2021 RTW collection by Jeremy Scott was a daring, blaring exclamation of fashion.
Turning away from the previous season’s marionette mannequins, Scott opted for working with living, breathing models this time around, among them famous faces including Hailey Bieber, Maye Musk, Miss Miranda, Shalom Harlow and Dita Von Teese, who closed the show.
Drawing inspiration from celebrated director George Cukor’s 1939 masterpiece, The Women, Scott decided to film his FW21 fashion presentation in the same vein—with no male characters appearing.
The women of Moschino’s world sashay around the world with purpose: from a (overly) refined social gathering replete with Jackie O-inspired bouclé suits, to the big city streets in I-mean-business pinstripes, to the wilder worlds of moving paintings with gowns seemingly folded and draped from paper, haphazardly brushed with bold paint strokes, to a lush jungle safari of preening lionesses and leopards, and ending off in an illusory theatre with unabashedly glamorous attendees in tow.
A healthy dose of cheeky design and irreverent witticisms abounded in the collection, brazenly joyful gowns with billowing silhouettes that bring to mind the halcyon days when social gatherings were not only limited to eight people.
