For the Balenciaga Fall 2020 ad campaign, the brand has released an evocative new series of ad visuals which draw a deep sense of strangeness out of the chaos of everyday.

The campaign channels that feeling of creative quarantine desperation with the need to get dressed up in the most outlandish style possible specifically for the sake of going nowhere.

The image shows Cardi laying down on a grassy patch surrounded by Balenciaga’s new Neo Classic big alongside trucks, dolls and other kid’s play-things, no doubt a nod to her 2-year-old daughter Kulture’s toys.

Other than one meticulously-disorganized studio photograph of Cardi B, the remaining images have been either taken by the models. These stars pose in their surreal quarantine zones, Balenciaga’s mix of formal and avant-garde clashing against the quotidian chaos of domestic life.
