Creative Director Casey Cadwallader tapped into the founder’s fantastical side for the Mugler Spring 2021 RTW collection Part 01, reinterpreting the Parisian label’s iconic collections of the ‘90s into powerful and hypersexualized silhouettes.
The collection features Bold cutout blazers and carefully constructed bodycons with twisting-seam jeans he designed for his first Mugler collection two years ago and the Lycra and illusion tulle leggings and tops that he likens to “complex puzzles” of couture pattern-making.
“There’s energy in young people that want to buy Mugler,” he said. “It’s really a flex on Mugler brand culture,” Cadwallader said in a statement. “It’s about sensing the power of these incredible people, their determination and confidence performed in every frame.”
The collection film stars Bella Hadid avatar and a cast of “all genders, all races, all sizes” friends of the brand. In that way, it quite effectively speaks to both sides of the designer’s reimagining of this brand.
