For the Dice Kayek Spring 2021 RTW collection, brilliant colors and effervescent silhouettes is staged against a once magnificent school for girls in Istanbul, captured in a short film by pioneering filmmaker Marie Schuller.
Perched on the heights of Istanbul’s Eastern banks sits a marble mansion in decay, a relic of glory days past, brimming with memories of the women that have occupied its halls. We are taken on a journey, through sculpted columns and cracked pastel walls, into a hypnotizing realm where the pursuit of optimism can fuel miraculous power. We follow three girls as they careen through a game of hide-and-seek dressed in gleaming silks, whimsical bows adorning playful dresses and separates, prints depicting a treasure trove of toys; collectively deepening the potential of their dream-world.
An illuminating initiative after many months of darkness, Dice Kayek conceptualized the film and collection around a longing for the passed day-to-day, how impactful the frivolous act of play can feel in times of loneliness. In a seemingly naïve game of make-believe, we fantasize about being together again, synchronously diving into our imaginations, isolated in reality but united in spirit.
Marie Schuller collaborated with a team of Turkish talents to bring the film to life, taking the lead together in establishing a new visual interpretation of Fashion Weeks to come. For the first time, Dice Kayek merges its Pink and Black labels to create a complete and adaptable collection, comprised of signature shapes and new styles, in keeping with the demands of its growing audience.
