For the Thom Browne Fall 2020 RTW collection, the designer has his own take on very old school prep with extended shoulders, boxy jackets, draped skirts for him and for her.

The collection featured a classic repertoire of trench coats, jackets, capes, trousers, pleated skirts, draped skirts, oxford shirts and neckties. Proportions were exaggerated. box pleats add movement. bouillonne embroideries and grosgrain ribbons trim collars. constructed and deconstructed, trousers become tops, draped around the bust.

Men looked masculine in women’s clothes and women looked feminine in men’s clothes. The Fall collection came in shades of grey, navy and grey and black and white in tweed, flannels and military cashmeres. With repp stripes, houndstooth, argyle and prince of wales checks, there were fair isle lace and intarsia drawing amusing bucolic scenes.
