CHANEL FALL 2020 RTW COLLECTION

Chanel gives a nod to the '80s with a eased back and relaxed collection.

For the Chanel Fall 2020 RTW show, the collection was inspired by freedom, energy, desire for the absolute.

Creative Direcotr Virginie Viard chose to represent Gabrielle Chanel and her racehorse, called ‘Romantica’, the film Les Biches by Chabrol for his Parisiennes who are as feminine as they are amazones, and a photo of Karl Lagerfeld wearing a striped suit with riding boots.

The collection featured almost no dressed just jockey silks. Jodhpurs that opened over seven-league boots was a nod to those belonging to Karl Lagerfeld. For the first time there are press studs on the suits for a more lively gesture.

Lots of black and white. Just a few touches of pale green and the emblematic pink of the House. A softness. An outline, punctured with imposing jewelry.

“A very simple, very pure momentum. Romanticism but without any flourishes. Emotions but without any frills,” explained Virginie Viard. “Movement, air… For the runway show, no frame. I don’t like framing.”
