Inspired by Creative Director Daniel Lee’s vision for Bottega Veneta, ‘Open Format’ is a site-specific video art installation under the direction of Phil Chang, commissioned by SSENSE for Bottega Veneta.

Speaking about the project, Phil Chang, Creative Director for ‘Open Format’ explains: “I was eager to develop something for Daniel Lee, who is doing the herculean work of maintaining Bottega’s vaunted heritage while guiding a broader, more contemporary audience into the brand’s orbit.”

Chang asked five people who work in different creative disciplines to meet and interact for the first time. Shot on video from many static angles, the filmed experiment was an opportunity to create a space that was free of production for the sake of it.

As a group, everyone involved in this project is striving not just to grow and excel in their respective industries, but interrogate them, too. These are people who think deeply about the implications of their work, who take the time to tell their stories, and who are recasting what it means to make.
