Shop the interactive Max Mara Pre-Fall 2017 Monopolis collection taking its inspiration from modern cities.
Launched in Shanghai, exclusive colours, trompe-l’oeil patterns and textured patchworks seen through new looks and luxurious coats. Max Mara had enlisted artist Lui Wei for both a special capsule collection and to create the set design for its Pre-Fall 2017 spectacular set in Shanghai’s Exhibition Center.
The season included a capsule collection designed in collaboration with Wei with eleven limited-edition models combine Max Mara’s sartorial milestones and aesthetic with unexpected cuts, volumes and patchworks inspired by the artist’s site specific installations. The collection featured topographic maps both real and imagined, lovingly crafted in laser-cut alpaca, wool, and cashmere
The collection features film noir heroines like Joan Crawford and Lauren Bacall with a sharp-eyed glamour made evident in 1940s shoulders and cinched waists, ruched tulle skirts and tailored trousers, chunky-heeled reptile-skin pumps and smooth leather knee-high lace-up boots. The season did not lack neat with more riffs on the brand’s cult-favorite classic coats—embracing Liu Wei’s intentionally unfinished ends became something of a point of pride.
