Shop the interactive Diane Von Furstenberg Spring 2016 collection entitled “Fortuna,” after the Roman goddess of luck and the subject of the first painting Von Furstenberg ever bought.
The collections celebrates truth, nature, freedom and beauty, she redefines individuality as she paints her own destiny. “She redefines beauty and paints her own destiny,” the program notes read. The models, for their part, wore their hair in waves with a fresh bloom tucked behind one ear, the way Von Furstenberg did in her younger days.
The collection featured metallic lamé suede and the butterfly embroidery that she lifted from the painting erred a touch on the sweet side by the time the third dress emerged in that motif. But the charm of the patchworked floral-print dresses in short and long varieties compensated.
There were a few brief nods to the 2010s in the form of olive green leather separates and a single pair of work pants, but Von Furstenberg’s heart was in her heritage this season.
