Humberto Leon and Carol Lim had that in mind for the Kenzo Resort 2015 collection, working a unique version of French chic into their lineup. “We wanted to embrace Paris as an outsider and interpret what we feel the French girl is,” Leon said.
The duo playfully reinterpreted Parisian staples — the chemise, cabans, Breton stripes — often pulling them together with bold print combinations, i.e., a casually elegant sweater in a graphic grid pattern shown with wide-leg polka dot pants, says WWD. Their version of a crisp white blouse, meanwhile, came as a parachute-like nylon top tucked into cropped black pants with wide cuffs. Throughout, Eiffel Tower and Statue of Liberty motifs added to the Gallic theme.
