Marni takes us on imaginary journey through different times and places, looking for a new standard of beauty for Spring
According to Creative Director Francesco Risso, the inspiration behind the Marni Spring 2018 came from two English gardens as seen by Tim Burton.
Risso has mixed a cocktail of proportion, texture and fantastic print. These are the clothes that make your heart skip a beat. With incredible interior workmanship—lining details and inner pockets and a slate of rarified textiles such duchesse, brocade, horsehair, taffeta, the collection is recontextualized as utilitarian.
The collection is an unravelling of regal florals and checks, and everything in between. “A couture top that has been sliced into a top worn with a rave pant, a bathing suit cut and worn as a t-shirt, a slip that comes from a dress that’s been lost in time, a super fine shoe that’s been embroidered and hand-painted,” Risso said. “It’s literally a trunk full of objects.”
We are immersed in certain escapist party spirit as Risso’s second Marni collection for women was featured fun and flirty options.
