Fluidity and femininity reign with a collection that sends us to the Orient
The Alberta Ferretti Limited Edition 2017 collection was presented at her Parisian Maison at 43 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. The style of the eighteen dresses conjures up memories of the Orient and the dreamy, mythological beauty of the Shalimar Gardens.
Eighteen creations bathed in the enchanting, soft light of the moon to portray a style of femininity. The inspiration behind the collection is the legend of the Shalimar Gardens, the reflections of the full moon, the evocative majesty of Imperial India, together with the glamour of Hollywood divas.
Silk satin flows over liquid forms; magnificent shantung moulds the more structured dresses; plissé chiffon gives consistency to the more romantic silhouettes; organza and silk tulle create volumes and sheerness on the purest dresses. Subtle and delicate, describing fine, monochrome paisley motifs are spotlighted. Crocheted in silk and cotton, the embroidery is embellished with tiny crystal beads, adding an exquisite touch to the organza and silk tulle dresses. Small, multicolour floral fret patterns are freehand embroidered on the chiffon and silk satin dresses in brighter hues. Saturated and intense in the shining tones of gemstones and the vibrant reflections of gold and platinum, the collection is rich.
The designer has chosen supermodel Natasha Poly to reveal the magnetism of the collection in a series of eighteen iconic, seductive photographs, one for each dress, captured by the lens of Giampaolo Sgura.
