Monse means business with a Resort collection brought to the bustling streets of New York

The Monse Resort 2018 collection features characteristic details of the brand including their statement shirting, twisted menswear fabrics, and a general sense of deconstruction.

The collection features their first floral print—or prints, for that matter. With scarf dresses, a highlight of Monse’s pre-collections, we now see collaged flowers. Creative Director Fernando Garcia explained each square was actually inspired by a flower seed packet. One asymmetrical frock in the botanical print had the makings of a charming cocktail dress alternative, and it looked even better with a cocoon-shaped denim jacket thrown on top. The “dad jeans” from Pre-Fall have already become a big hit, and Creative Director Laura Kim reported that it’s a growing category for Monse.

There is a white handkerchief-hem skirt with a glen-plaid blazer and red belt layered on top, but closer inspection reveals it to be all one piece. Despite Monse’s reputation for deconstructed menswear and oversize, twisted shirting, it’s mostly been known for gowns or separates.
