Stylistically appealing, the Zimmermann Spring 2017 collection melded materials from lace, and tulle, all layered with detailed craftsmanship.

“I grew up in the suburbs of Sydney,” said Nicky Zimmermann. “About 45 minutes out of the city—you were kind of deprived of access to the subculture happening in town. So, every Saturday, I’d drive in with my friends and we’d make our own outfits.” This origin story served as the inspiration for Zimmermann’s Spring collection.

Pretty and polished, the sleek offering demonstrates an immaculate combination of romanticism with a touch of boho inspiration. Floral patterns rimmed with delicate lace seemed to billow effortlessly on the runway. Stand out skirts and frocks featured leg baring hemlines, with some boasting strategic cut outs, button embellished fanciful frills and coordinated tassels. Gorgeous suede lace up knee high boots were added to the style mix for a cohesive yet subtly sexy look. A masterful mix of trousers featuring front tie waist wraps, drawstring ties and side button detailed sides all made show stopping appearances on the catwalk.

Zimmermann mentioned that the overall feel of the collection was also “kind of sexy pirate,” a descriptor that must have sprung from the “romanticism” of her youthful memories.
