Creative Director Demna Gvasalia released his first Balenciaga Resort 2017 collection with a humoristic undertone. With a candy-striped bathrobe coat and a matching fringed stole-cum-towel thrown over one shoulder, worn with a pair of pointy low-heeled ankle-strap shoes, and a baseball cap jammed on low over the face.
The Balenciaga collection exudes a holiday destination with a cultural connotation with the shirting-stripe caftans.
The majority of the collection features a color palette of red and blue long striped dresses, robes, oversized blouses, and trousers. All of the ensembles were accessorized with caps that heavily juxtaposed the aesthetic of the clothes. Paired with criss-cross sandal and pointy strappy heels, the looks showcased a more elegant look.
For a more tailored look, this season all exposed jackets and coats with forward-thrust Balenciaga-line shoulders, updated with Bermuda shorts for a resort-feel.
