Like a tribute to Paris, the Saint Laurent Spring 2017 ad campaign shows the city between two banks. With crossing references to the heritage of the Yves Saint Laurent fashion house, the campaign features juxtaposing leather, jewels and lace, drawing a femininity without frills, rooted in paradoxes, a sensuality tied to the body.

As the beginning of a new era as designer Anthony Vaccarello takes the reigns, this is the designer’s first full campaign for the house featuring Anja Rubik lensed by photo duo Inez & Vinoodh.

Rubik is seen posing on a bridge atop the Seine, modeling in scantly clad ensembles for the black and white images. Styled by Alastair McKimm, Anja shows off her tan lines in a sequin embellished bodysuit and denim jacket. In another image, the blonde wears a lace number while posing in heels.

Vaccarello and Inez & Vinoodh maintained the aesthetic of the house while evolving the look. Inherently French with a rocker tinge, it gives a nod to the fashion house’s edgy legacy and previous creative director, Hedi Slimane; but Vaccarello seems to be vamping up the sex appeal.
