As the runway show opened with “it” model Bella Hadid in a leather top and a voluminous, ruffled skirt, the Alberta Ferretti Spring 2017 collection was a balance of seduction and elegance.

The collection offered the pieces were delicate, feminine, and the living embodiment of all that Alberta sought to honor when she began designing collections in the early 1970s.

The designed focused on white, black, bright blue and purple, only to interrupt such shades with quick yet remarkable bright pops of yellow, fiery red and green. The collection is thus structured through four different sections, with each one of them being introduced by staples made of mixed and matched colors and, at times, even floral patterns.

The line-up featured lace dresses, open-shoulder tops and even pantsuits. Paired with leather belts and cinchers, it was far from just light and airy fare.  Tiered gowns and sheer skirts brought a sense of allure to the spring outing.Layered underneath a ruffly chiffon frock were flared trousers, and accompanying a silk peasant blouse were crisp shorts—not groundbreaking ideas, but nonetheless modern ways to balance her signature frills. Cut in humble cotton, the designer’s ankle-grazing skirts and cropped tanks were youthful and fresh.
