The specifics of craftsmanship and a sense of re-evaluating the familiar are key themes for the COS Spring 2016 collection, exposing minimal looks with a modern edge.

From a sandstone cotton parka that is elevated through the reduction of details, to the simplicity of a white belted boilersuit, or the softest unstructured blazer that flows in blush high-twist viscose. Garments have been re-thought, like a trench that becomes a wrap skirt, or the cut of a denim jean pocket that informs the shape and fold of a white cotton canvas dress. Meanwhile an open-back silk dress in sandstone takes inspiration from the organic shapes of sand dunes seen in Renate Aller’s photographs and results in a dress that is both simultaneously organically sculptured and calming.

Denim is showcased through the wearable simplicity of the pieces as functionality takes on new form. Boxy cuts and asymmetrical lines introduce new vision to a classic and raw material.

Drapes and folds while precise appear effortless. This crafted yet somewhat organic approach is highlighted by a naturalistic colour palette of sand and stone juxtaposed with blue denim and crisp whites.

Accessories reflect the angular theme of season with shapely jewelry in metal and stone featuring details of compressed recycled denim. Meanwhile effortless knotted leather sandal in grey white, or a stacked wood sole sandal with dove grey nubuck straps add a simplistic touch.

The collection will be available in COS stores as of January 2016.
