Sleek and industrial, the Ralph Lauren Automotive Eyewear Collection is inspired by the technical refinement of luxury automobiles.

Ralph Lauren’s new eyewear collection uses three distinct design elements to link the sunglasses to the automotive world: lightweight aluminum, similar to the type used on classic racecars; vintage screws, comparable to those used in vintage-car bodies; and perforated leather, like the kind used for driving gloves and car seats.

The line features three types of sunglasses and two different optical glasses where the collection sees the lightweight material worked into the frames with inspiration from classic automotive design, each with polarized lenses. All of the models also see a subtle laser-engraved Ralph Lauren logo at both of the temples and also have perforated leather tips in reference to the material used in the driving gloves that often accompany seasoned drivers.

The centerpiece of the collection is the RL Aluminum Driving Glass (Model RL 7049Q), a sophisticated take on traditional aviators. The unisex shades—with frames available in matte silver, dark gray, and dark green—are fashioned from a single piece of aluminum. Perforated leather temple tips and the signature Ralph Lauren logo complete the look.

The glasses—ranging from $179 to $219—are now available at and in stores.
