Creative Director Fausto Puglisi sought to “dress women from the morning to the evening” through the Emanuel Ungaro Resort 2016 collection.
Puglisi made a point of separate styles that could be worn together or in different ways and put on a display of elegance that blurred the line of demarcation between masculine and feminine clothes. “I wanted to add a bit of disorder,” said the designer.
Fantastic, modern cabana-striped tailoring was loose and oversized as billowing pants and blouses inspired by Julian Schnabel’s pajamas were standouts. Puglisi described such looks on Tuesday as “modern versions of Neapolitan dressing.”
Gray dominated for day in smart pinstriped tailored pieces with mini ruffle details added to hems and jackets. There werefewer prints and those that remained are more subdued, used in varying dimensions such as an elegant thirties-inspired frond allover print on sweeping skirts, cotton tops, or embroidered lace. Flocked Renaissance-style motifs added a fresh spin to his trademark lampshade dresses, sharp jackets, and pencil skirts.
