YVES SAINT LAURENT BEAUTY & GOOGLE GLASS RETAIL EXPERIENCEIn collaboration with Google, Yves Saint Laurent Beauty introduces the first Google Glass makeup session to take away. A new kind of digital retail experience premiering at Hudson’s Bay in Canada in December 2014.

Google Glass will capture makeup sessions directly from the eye of the makeup artist enabling a really subjective viewpoint, as facing a mirror, which greatly simplifies the deciphering of each step of the tutorial. These videos will offer a new and unique view to consumers and empower them to reproduce the same makeup look at home. Women around the world have long lamented the fact that they are unable to recreate their favorite smokey eyes or red lips. Now, thanks to the technology of Google Glass and Yves Saint Laurent Beauty, the retail experience has become a moment of personalized education.

“Hudson’s Bay is proud to launch another first in our cosmetics departments”, said Shelley Rozenwald, Chief Beauty Adventurer, Hudson’s Bay Company. “The Yves Saint Laurent Google Glass technology is innovative and takes the customer experience to an entirely new level. We are thrilled to premiere this amazing new concept at Hudson’s Bay, Canadian headquarters for Yves Saint Laurent Beauty.”

At the point of sale, the visitor will benefit from a personalized make-up session by the Yves Saint Laurent Beauty make-up artist. She will receive the video of the makeover, the “before and after” photos and the detailed list of products used in the look with direct links to buy in on Yves Saint Laurent Beauty’s retailer partners.

“The collaboration between Yves Saint Laurent Beauty and Google is a real innovation in the beauty world”, said Yosser Zmitri, General Manager for Yves Saint Laurent Beauty Canada. “YSL is the first-ever beauty brand to bring the Google Glass to counter, offering clients the opportunity to literally take home their makeup artist. The technology allows for a tailored, personalized approach to makeup tutorials; something we feel women have been longing for!”

These retail and digital service-oriented tools will roll out worldwide in 2015 with Hudson’s Bay in Canada premiering the service at three select stores in December 2014, first in Toronto at Hudson’s Bay Queen on December 11th and 12th, then Hudson’s Bay Yorkdale on December 131h and 14th and  finally Montreal at Hudson’s Bay Downtown on December 18th and 19th.
