Anthony Vaccarello, a fan of blood-red color, aggressive cuts and deep cleavage, presents his first ad campaign, and as expected, his muse model Anja Rubik became the star of it.
The 31-year-old Italian-Belgian designer gained fame while his friend and muse, Anja Rubik walked the red carpet of MET Gala 2012 in a sultry high-slit white gown signed by Vaccarello . His vampy style catch the eye of Donatella Versace contacting him as creative director at Versus. His first collection for the house will debut in September in New York.
And today he introduced his first ad campaign starring Rubik and shot by Inez & Vinoodh.
‘The concept came from the Fall collection, which was inspired by Tony Viramontes. We wanted a raw image and to do something very dynamic that looked like a sketch. It was a dream for me that Inez & Vinoodh shot it. I never thought I would be able to work with them. I was talking to Anja [Rubik], and she said, “Why don’t you ask Inez & Vinoodh?” She pushed me to try, and they said yes. For me, they are the best because they understand simplicity. The campaign is very sharp but very soft at the same time. We chose red text because I wanted it to look like a gallery poster. And because we had red in the collection,’ Vaccarello confessed to Style.com.
Yadim took care of makeup, with hair by Shay Ashual, and the look of the campaign was inspired by famed late 20th century fashion and beauty illustrator Tony Viramontes: “I wanted a raw image and to do something very dynamic that looked like a sketch,” explained Vaccarello. The text color was apparently designed to reflect the red in the collection and the film poster aesthetic.
