For its Spring 2014 ad campaign, Christian Dior enlists a cast of leading faces including Stella Tennant, Edie Campbell, Elise Crombez and Julia Nobis.  Creative director Raf Simons’ colorful prints and sharp tailoring is on full display in the Spring advertisements.

Standing proud under an azure sky, her beauty blooms amid a lush backdrop of exotic vegetation. In this new campaign, shot by the photographer Willy Vanderperre, the Dior woman blossoms like a new kind of flower. Be she sensual and romantic among the plants, or seductive and determined as she poses on scaffolding, her head in the clouds, her elegance is imbued with paradoxes. Garlanded with jewel-like colored glass wisteria, draped with floral prints, her feet delicately crisscrossed with leather lianas, a bag in a precious skin on her arm, she is sophisticated yet resolutely spontaneous; her style a subtle balance between the natural and the most luxurious artifice.

If the Dior woman as conceived of by Raf Simons for Spring 2014 appears a melange of contrasts and paradoxes, one thing is certain: her silhouette, daring and contemporary, traces its roots from the heritage of Christian Dior. From her flaring skirt to the Bar  jacket that hugs her reed-thin waist, and the floral prints she sports, she is the embodiment of a New Look  enriched with color.
