The muse behind the Yigal Azrouël Pre-Fall 2014 collection was a young Marianne Faithfull, circa the 1968 film The Girl on a Motorcycle. Her character was a fitting inspiration given the designer’s preoccupation with biker jackets. This season, his signature Perfectos looked particularly cool updated in a graphic alpaca wool, and paired with a matching wrap skirt and second-skin leather leggings underneath. Another variation on the style came patchworked in croc-stamped leather, and featured a myriad of zippers so it could be converted into six different pieces. Elsewhere, Azrouël mixed an embroidered eyelet material with velvet mesh on a body-con sheath, and showed a functional fit and flare dress cut from chevron-patterned jacquard that could be zipped into a top and skirt. Other highlights included a silver fox fur coat and a Lurex-flecked evening gown with on-trend fringe detailing.
